The Vivacious Jimmy Carter

Keith Olbermann interviewing Jimmy Carter for 10 minutes. That is all.

Pakistan Is Outed

Here is yet another great video for your viewing pleasure and not surprisingly it is from the Rachel Maddow show. It is great for three reasons: 1 no one knew that that drone strikes were being launched from a Pakistani airbase, 2 Rachel's take on how our government shouldn't be straight out lying to us is incredibly refreshing and 3 her reaction is comedic gold. Watch the video and see for yourself.

Pelosi's Daughter Should Be Grounded

So I was casually listening to the nightly lefty news provided by MSNBC's website, when I stumbled across this video. It really should have been cut in half, since the segments seem to diverge pretty severely, but alas you'll just have to sit through two segments from the best news show on television. The first half of the video details the bravery of Republicans in their fight to keep America from pulling itself up from the gutter.

The second half however, is an interview with Nancy Pelosi's daughter Alexandra. Now I point out that she is Nancy's daughter not because I think all children should languish in their parents shadows, but because she comes off as so dismissive and rude that the spoiled-Washington-brat-attitude is unmistakable. Not surprisingly, Rachel wasn't willing to take that attitude without fighting back.

I am all for respecting other's view points and recognizing that we as Americans can disagree. However, I think that pretending that all viewpoints are equal, is a disservice to those who study and toil to make sure that their beliefs are well founded and well reasoned. Does that make me a partisan? Sure it does. Does it make them any less idiotic? No, and just to drive that point home...

"When Roosevelt did this, he put our country into a Great Depression. ... He tried to borrow and spend, he tried to use the Keynesian approach, and our country ended up in a Great Depression. That's just history." - Representative Steve Austria of Ohio

Now, I don't want to discount the struggle it took for a grown man to live this long and yet be so ill-informed, but being wrong is a far more passive venture than being right. Let us not forget this is an elected official not just a republican foot soldier. When one side is so intellectually bankrupt from the top of the party to the bottom, should we really lament our differences? I for one celebrate them.

Under His Thumb

Well it looks like Al Franken's chances of becoming the 59th Democratic senator in the 111th congress is looking a whole lot better. So that being said, let us revel in the joy that is Al Franken a comedian, being a senator in the United States congress.

Yes my friends, the day is getting closer.

Axelrod And FDR Defend Obama's Attire

Andy Card has been criticizing the Obama administration for treating the Oval office like a locker room. That they are disrespecting the office of the presidency by having their sleeves rolled up. Well here is what Mr. Axelrod had to say in defense of the Obama administration.

"I mentioned Andy Card saying that we were somehow denigrating the Presidency because people were wearing short sleeves in the Oval Office. We’re wearing short sleeves because we have to roll up our sleeves and clean up the mess that we inherited."

Just to remind everyone of a time when sleeves had to be rolled up and things needed to be changed, I give you this video.

Appropo, no?

Ends Justify The Means/Torture

So I would think that as Americans, we can at least agree that we should not torture captives. Now, we may disagree on what constitutes torture, but we have some common ground, right? Apparently Lars Larson, a conservative talk show radio host, is setting the record straight. Rethuglicants believe we should torture captives, Geneva convention and ethics be damned. Watch the video below, at about 7:30 in you'll see what I mean.

Surfing The Web Of Idiocy

So I googled the forbidden word Liberal today, and I found one of the pages listed hilarious. Take a look at Conservapedia's definition of the word.

"A liberal is someone who rejects logical and biblical standards, often for self-centered reasons. There are no coherent liberal standards"

Glad to see that the Right's answer to Wikipedia is setting the official standard for forum trolls everywhere.

Audacity Of Nope/Party Of No

All House Republicans voted no on the "stimulus" package today. But ha! It passed anyway. Handily. One of their well-thought-out arguments against the bill was that the government has never created a job. Oh yeah, except for Representatives. And Senators. And the presidency. And the Presidents staff. And the 1.8 million other people employed by the federal government.

How we got here

If any of you were wondering how the economy blew up, watch this video. Seriously, unpaid mortgages were just the first domino.

Luckily, Barney Frank and congressional democrats are here to save the day. Though Pelosi's Mighty Mouse was left out of the stimulus package.
